Single-Shaft Shredder

Main Structure

A single-shaft shredder is a robust size-reduction machine designed for processing various materials, particularly plastics, in recycling applications.

Key structural components include:

Hopper – can be from the top or from the side.

Rotor – A heavy-duty rotating shaft equipped with hardened steel blades that cut and tear the material.

Blades/Cutters – Typically made from high-strength alloy steel (e.g., D2/SKD11), which are mounted on the rotor and perform the shredding action.

Screen/Grate – A perforated mesh that controls the output particle size; smaller holes produce finer shreds.

Electric Drive System – together with gearbox to power the rotor.

Pushing System – A hydraulic swing-arm or horizontal pusher plate forces material toward the rotor for consistent feeding.

Frame – Heavy-duty steel construction to withstand high torque and impact forces.

Control Panel – Allows operators to adjust and monitor performance, and ensure safety.
