Twin-Shaft Shredder

Main Structure

A twin-shaft shredder (also called a dual-shaft shear shredder) is a heavy-duty industrial machine designed for size reduction, pre-processing, and volume reduction of various materials, particularly plastics.

Key structural components include:

  • Rotor System (Core Shredding Mechanism)

Two Counter-Rotating Shafts – Intermeshing shafts with bolted cutting discs/blades.

Cutting Blades/Discs – Made from high-strength alloy steel (e.g., D2, 9CrSi, H13) or tungsten carbide for extended wear resistance.

Bearing & Gearbox Assembly – Supports high torque and shear forces during operation.

 

  • Feeding & Discharge System

Hopper (Feeding Chamber) – Designed for bulky or irregularly shaped materials (e.g., plastic drums, big bags, PE films, EPS EPE foam board, wood pallets, aluminium profiles, household applications).

Hydraulic Pusher (Optional) – Ensures consistent feeding and prevents bridging.

Discharge Screen/Grate – Controls output size (typically 20-100mm, depending on application).

 

  • Drive System

High-Torque Electric or Hydraulic Motor – Powers the twin shafts at low speeds (8-30 RPM) for maximum shearing force.

Planetary Gear Reducer – Ensures smooth power transmission under heavy loads.

 

  • Frame & Safety Features

Heavy-Duty Welded Steel Frame – Withstands extreme mechanical stress.

Overload Protection – Auto-reverse or shutdown to prevent motor damage.
